Non-Profit Feature: The Flying Samaritans

If you're new around here, you might not know that a portion of proceeds for every purchase made on Stateroom Statements is contributed to worthy non-profit causes that support Cruise Port communities. Well - it is! Today, we're excited to share more details on an incredible cause benefitting communities on the west coast of Mexico - the Flying Samaritans!

About the Flying Samaritans:

The Flying Samaritans is a non-profit organization that provides free medical services to underserved communities in Mexico. The organization was founded in 1961 by a group of pilots who wanted to use their planes to transport medical supplies to remote areas of Mexico.

Today, the Flying Samaritans operates 16 clinics in Baja California, Mexico, and provides medical and dental care to more than 15,000 patients each year. The clinics are staffed by volunteer doctors, dentists, nurses, and support staff, who provide basic medical care, preventative health education, and dental services to patients of all ages.

The Flying Samaritans also has a scholarship program that provides financial assistance to students in the Baja California region who are pursuing a career in healthcare. This program is designed to help address the shortage of healthcare professionals in Mexico and to promote access to quality healthcare for all.

The organization is funded through donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations, and is run entirely by volunteers - dedicated to the health and well-being of communities in need. You can learn more about their mission, and contribute directly at their website.
